Pennylane, the Paris-based accounting platform that became a unicorn in early 2024, has raised €75 million in a funding round led by Sequoia Capital, Capital G, and Meritech. The funds will support its expansion as Europe adopts stricter electronic invoicing regulations.

Pennylane’s latest funding round

Pennylane, a leading accounting platform for businesses and accounting firms, has secured €75 million in new funding. The round was led by Sequoia Capital, Capital G, and Meritech, with participation from DST. This investment comes as the company aims to strengthen its position in the European market, where electronic invoicing regulations are becoming more widespread.

Growth and expansion plans

CEO Arthur Waller announced that Pennylane now serves 4,500 accounting firms and 350,000 SMEs daily. The company plans to grow its workforce from 550 to 800 employees by the end of 2025, focusing on research and development to improve its financial management services.

European e-invoicing regulations

The funding will help Pennylane adapt to new electronic invoicing requirements across Europe. These regulations aim to streamline financial processes and reduce fraud, creating opportunities for platforms like Pennylane to offer integrated solutions.
